The Earth has a limited amount of water, which keeps moving in a giant loop called the water cycle. First, the Sun heats the water in oceans and rivers, turning it into an invisible gas called water vapor. This is evaporation. As the vapor rises into the sky, it cools down and turns back into tiny water droplets, forming clouds. This is condensation. When the clouds get heavy, the water falls back to the ground as rain, snow, or hail. This is precipitation. Finally, the water flows back into rivers and oceans, and the cycle starts again. This process has been happening for billions of years, recycled over and over.
